Nebaj

Nebaj situated north of the department of El Quiché, covers an area of approximately 650 km². Bordered on the north by the municipality of Ixcán, the east with the municipalities of Cotzal and Chajul, the south with the municipalities of Cunén and Sacapulas, all the department of El Quiché, and west by the municipalities of Aguacatán, Chiantla, Santa Eulalia, San Juan Ixcoy and Barillas; the department of Huehuetenango. This 91 kilometers from the provincial capital, and 254 kilometers from the capital city, and is one of three municipalities that make up the Ixil community Linguistics

Ixil language is one of the 22 languages recognized by the Academy of Mayan Languages of Guatemala. It is spoken with variations in geographic space of the municipalities of Nebaj, Chajul and Cotzal, north of the department of El Quiché.

The Community Linguistics Ixil, is part of the Mayan peoples of Guatemala, so its history is admirable.

The town of Nebaj has 90% or speaker of the language Ixil, and 8% and 2% Castilian language Kꞌicheꞌ, the beauty of his suit and mountains like the Cuchumatanes, south of town and its tourist attractions and its water births in their ranges.
